BOYS BB:LOSE TO YORKTOWN 57-51,UPSET MUNCIE CENTRAL 69-62

The Pendleton Heights boys basketball team played well but lost to a more experienced Yorktown team on Friday night, 57-51.

It marked the Arabians last game in conference play as they finished 3-4 in the Hoosier Heritage Conference.

Nathan Hendershot scored a game-high 17 points for the Arabians, Patrick Obras added nine, and Kendall Waters and Nick Swartz chipped in with eight points apiece.

It was a good week for the freshman duo of Obras and Swartz. Both players are starting to find their rhythm on the offensive end and could make PH a dangerous team in the postseason.

Swartz has perfected his mid-range jumper and gives the Arabians another scoring option besides Hendershot and Waters. Obras has extended his range and can make 3-pointers if necessary, but his big contributions have come on the boards; he pulled down 11 rebounds in the two games last weekend.

As difficult as the Yorktown loss was to swallow, the Arabians more than redeemed themselves with a 69-62 victory over sectional foe Muncie Central a night later.

The Bearcats and guard Juawan Scaife made it a close game late as they tied it at 57 with two minutes remaining, but PH showed mental toughness and finished out the win.

Scaife, a Ball State recruit, scored 22 of his game-high 26 points in the second half and couldn’t miss in the fourth quarter. Scaife had scored 32 points in a loss to Class 4A No. 1 North Central two weeks ago.

Hendershot scored 23 points, pulled down nine rebounds, and dished out five assists to lead the Arabians. Michael Maxwell added 14 points and four 3-pointers and Obras chipped in 11 points.

Despite giving up 62 points, PH had one of its best defensive performances of the season. The Arabians held sophomore Jeremiah Davis, a Kentucky recruit, to six points on 2-of-9 shooting.
