Boys BB: ARABIANS DEFEAT HOST NEW CASTLE

The Pendleton Heights boys basketball team got a big road win on Tuesday night over rival and sectional foe, New Castle.

The Arabians (9-8) never trailed, but things got very interesting down the stretch. New Castle scored only 18 points in the first three quarters, but senior Corey Clemens led them on a fourth quarter run in which the Trojans outscored PH 23-15.

Clemens, who scored a game-high 22 points on 7-of-21 shooting, had his team within two points in the final minute of the game before freshman Kendall Waters and sophomore Ryan Albers iced the win with four free throws.

Waters scored 18 points on 8-of-12 shooting and he was flawless from the field in the second half. Nathan Hendershot added 11 points and three rebounds for the Arabians and Michael Maxwell hit two 3-pointers for six points.

The win was significant for a young team that has struggled to win on the road this season. PH, which won only two of its first seven contests away from home, will be back at the New Castle Fieldhouse next week when it plays Anderson in the sectional.
