The Arabian Wrestling Team dropped a heartbreaker to East Central High School in the fourth round match that determined the team champion at Saturday’s Arabian Super Six. The visiting Trojans won the dual 36-33 in a battle that came down to the last weight class. The match looked like a blowout early for the Trojans who enjoyed a 36-15 lead after 10 weight classes. The Arabians stormed back to win the last four weights and almost push the match to a tie breaker. The match lifted the Trojans towards a 5-0 record for the day with the Arabians finishing 4-1.

In the first round of the day the Arabians quickly dispatched Winchester by a 51-21 score. The Arabians built a quick lead which they never relinquished. The Arabians had six falls in the match, five of which came in the first period of the match. Matt Todd had the quick fall for the Arabians in :46.

In the second round the Arabians faced Anderson Highland. The Scots have set the standard in recent years in Madison County wrestling and the dual was one the wrestlers and coaching staff had been pointing to as a test of where they stood against their county and sectional rival. The Scots jumped to an early 13 point lead which the Arabians whittled down and finally erased with a fall by Kyle Smitherman at 215 lbs, a :14 fall by heavyweight Brian Catellier, a first period fall by Mason Todd (103) and first period buzzer-beating fall by Andrew Wilson (112) for the final margin of 45-29. Catellier’s pin tied Matt Todd for the fastest of the season.

The third round saw the Arabians sprint to an easy win over a young and inexperienced Elwood squad. In addition to five forfeits, the Arabians grabbed seven falls, four of which came in less than a minute. The final team score was 72-6. Jake Stilwell had the team’s fastest fall in :33.

After the East Central match in round four the Arabians closed the day with 64-9 rout of Muncie Central. The 4-1 record was good for a second place team finish on the day for PH. The team will now point towards the Madison County Wrestling Championships this coming Saturday at the Wigwam in Anderson. Wrestling begins at 8:30.

Five Arabians claimed weight class championships on the day: Mason Todd, Andrew Wilson, Eric Jarrett (125), Clint Nicholson (145) and Matt Todd (160) were all undefeated. Justin Eshelman (119) and Cody Stephenson (140) were each 4-1. Nick Holt (152), and Kyle Smitherman eached finished 3-2. Matt Todd won the award for the most falls in the least wrestling team with five falls in a total mat time of 5:45
