FB: Three HHC Teams Remain Undefeated

Three Hoosier Heritage Conference football teams remained
undefeated Friday evening. Two of those captured league victories and the third
posted an impressive non-conference win. After the dust settled, Yorktown finds itself in sole possession of first place
in the league, but Shelbyville and Delta are breathing down the Tigers’ necks.

Here is a capsule look at Friday’s action.

Delta turned what was supposed to be a Delaware County
showdown into a rout over Muncie South. The Eagles soared 40-7. It marks the
second time this year that Delta has cruised in a game that was billed as a
major test. Earlier they overwhelmed a Jay County
team that has since fallen on hard times.

Yorktown handled
Greenfield-Central 28-7. A few seasons ago a date with the Cougars was
considered an automatic win. That is certainly no longer the case. Greenfield dropped to 2-2 on the year while Yorktown remained unbeaten.

Shelbyville pounded Pendleton Heights
42-7. The Golden Bears have now outscored their opponents 164 to 43 in their
four games this season. The loss kept Pendleton Heights
winless on the campaign.

New Palestine
picked up an impressive non-conference victory over traditional power
Batesville 30-13. The win evened the Dragons record on the season at 2-2. They
are 1-1 in league play.

Rushville ended a two game losing streak by manhandling the Marauders
of Mount Vernon 35-3. The victory evened the Lions at 2-2 on the year while Mount Vernon
dropped to 103.

The big games in the conference will begin next week when Yorktown and Delta square off. Meanwhile, Shelbyville can
anticipate a rough end to their regular season. The Golden Bears play Yorktown and Delta back to back in the final two weeks of
the season.
